20 Tip For Getting Your Family On Track

  1. Park the car AS FAR AWAY from the entrance as possible
  2. Use a pedometor to count the number of steps taken each day                          (2,000 steps equals about a mile)
  3. Have a catch (Football, Baseball, Softball, Frisbee, etc.)
  4. Make chores, such as, Vacuuming, sweeping or raking your chance to be active
  5. Go for family walks after meals
  6. Limit recreational screen time (TV, video games, computer, phones and devices) to less than 2 hours per day
  7. Shoot some hoops
  8. Select fitness-oriented gifts with your family members skills and interests in mind
  9. Design a Frisbee Golf Coarse and play Frisbee Golf                                       (“replace” a golf hole with targets and count the number of tosses to hit the target)
  10. Try to ALWAYS use the STAIRS
  11. Visit farms throughout the year and pick you own strawberries, peaches and apples
  12. Plan bicycle trips on trails
  13. Go swimming and play water tag or water volleyball
  14. Play soccer or just kick the ball around
  15. Go hiking
  16. Jump rope, practice rhythms, rhymes and tricks
  17. Adopt a roadway, park or beach and keep it clean
  18. Enter a “fun run”, “mud run” or “bike a-thon” and train for it                                (you can walk a “fun run” too)
  19. Use a hula hoop – see how long you can keep it going!
